I was invited to address and attend the Dunedin Multi-Ethnic Council, Leaders forum on the 8th August 2020 at the Octagon Club. Also present was the Hon Michael Woodhouse MP, representatives from the Dunedin City Council, performers.
Represented with their leaders were Singapore Students Association, NZCA, Fijian Community, Sathi Association, Dunedin-Edinburgh Sister City society, Otago Scottish Heritage Council, Indonesian Society In Dunedin, International Students Association of Otago, Dunedin Jewish Community, Kiribati Community, Cedars of Lebanon club, Lupe Fa"Alele Samoa I Otago, Myanmar Community of Dunedin, Nepal Community, North East Valley Multi-Cultural Woman Group, Pakistan association New Zealand Dunedin Otago Region, Polish Heritage of Otago, Palestinian Community, Dunedin Philipine Club Inc., Dunedin Tamil Society, Tongan/Pacific Trust Otago, Vietnamese Community in Dunedin, and Syrian Community.
Each leader had a quick address introducing themselves and their group interspersed with some entertainment by various acts.
Lunch followed with an amazing variety of multi-ethnic cuisine.
It was an interesting event and I met a variety of people and hope to forge some connections with them in the future.
